Hiking ticket panorama trail Elsigenalp–Frutigen

The panoramic mountain trail starts at the Elsigenalp mountain station. In an easy descent, the narrow nature trail leads through alpine meadows and forests to the Oberer Achsetberg. Here you can enjoy impressive views of the Frutig-Spissen trench landscape on the Niesen chain on the other side of the valley. The panorama of the Adelboden valley basin opens on the other side of the valley. You reach Trute via alpine pastures with great views. Here you will find a picnic area with a bonfire site and views of the two mountains Niesen and Niederhorn. Then the trail continues downhill to the village centre of Frutigen and on to the train station.

Level of difficulty: Medium. The last part of the route goes steeply downhill. Those who prefer to walk uphill take the route in reverse.

The Elsigenalp-Frutigen hiking ticket is valid from 24 May to 20 October 2024 and is available in the BLS webshop or at any BLS Travel Centre.

Cable car summer timetable

June: 09.00–17.00 hours, every 20 minutes July, August (until 18 August): 08.30–17.00 hours, every 20 minutes August (from 19.8.), September, October: 09.00–17.00 hours, every 20 minutes last ascent at 16.40 hours

• Mountain lodge Elsigenalp The Berghaus Elsigenalp is located just 250 metres from the top station of the cable car.

• Alpenstrand Bistro The Alpenstrand-Bistro invites you to linger at the Brandsee when the weather is fine. 5 minutes on foot from the mountain station.

• Oberer Achsetberg Alpine hut Treat yourself to a break and enjoy local specialities from the small Alpine kiosk at the Alpine hut. The Alpkiosk is open during the alpine season.

• Trute fireplace The fireplace invites you to linger and offers a fantastic view.

Travel conveniently by public transport to Frutigen. Here, you change to the bus that departs directly from the train station. You travel through the Engstligental valley to Achseten Church in 16 minutes. From here, the on-call bus will take you comfortably (booking obligatory: +41 33 671 33 33) to the valley station of the Elsigenalp aerial cableway.
