We make it possible to do what other hiking visitors can’t: You will be picked up at Oey-Diemtigen railway station and driven in comfort up to your starting point at Springenboden in the Diemtigtal Nature Park. where the five-hour hike up to the Niesen summit starts.
The wonderful view is your constant companion. Along the way, the Hoschüpfe viewing platform offers breathtaking views of the mountain summit, Lake Thun, and the wide Simmen and Diemtigtal valleys. After climbing 1,243 metres, you get to the Niesen summit. Enjoy your time at the top before the Niesen railway brings you back down into the valley to the station at Mülenen.

Take the train directly from Bern (departure 07.39 hrs) to Oey-Diemtigen in 45 minutes. Your transfer awaits you at 08.24 at Oey-Diemtigen railway station. The return journey goes from Mülenen station, 200 metres away from the Niesen valley station, straight back to Bern.
Details
The mountain trail is marked with yellow signposts and leads from Springenboden via Unterer Drune to the Hoschüpfe viewing platform. From there the trail takes you via Geeri and Chummli to Unterer Stalde and via Oberer Stalde high up to the summit and the Niesen mountain station.

Despite the saying “When the Niesen has a hat, the weather will be good again”, monitoring the weather situation is important.
The hike leads through pastures with cattle and along a sheep pasture with guard dogs. We recommend that you do without assistance dogs for the hike. Please pay attention to the signs on site.

We recommend starting the hike with some refreshment at the Gasthaus Gsässweid in Springenboden. Enjoy, for example, a warm drink and a croissant. For the hike itself, pack sufficient drink and refreshments. Cold drinks and a varied menu are available at the Berghaus Kulm on the Niesen summit.
